Summary

Define the price to upload Third Party Wearables and related commissions for the Curators Committee.

Abstract

Third Party Wearables is a new feature in which Third Parties -meaning other communities/companies/groups that already have their collections of NFTs in circulation- generate a 3D representation of their NFTs in Decentraland as wearables. More details and specifications in the original DAO Proposal for Third Party Wearables.

Motivation

Define a fair slot price (each Wearable needs one slot) for Third Parties to upload item representations of their NFTs and a fair commission fee for the Curators that will make sure these representations comply with Decentraland UI guidelines and aesthetics.

Specification

After the Third Party is added to the Third Party Registry as defined in the previous DAO Proposal, the Third Party Managers need to go to the Builder and buy one slot for each NFT they want their community to have inside Decentraland.

Let use an example: CCC (or any other NFT Collection) may want their NFT owners to have a cool stoner hat that is only available for them, a wearable that represents their community and culture. So representatives from CCC could request the DAO to add them as an accepted Third Party to the Third Party Registry. This is the first step, then the Managers need to go to the Builder and start the process.

The CCC Managers can add 3D models that will represent the stoner hat wearable, but in order to do so, they need to buy one slot for each model. If they only want to give their NFT Owners one single hat for each of them, then they need to buy just one slot. If they want to create a collection of many different models, they need to buy one slot for each one.

MANA collected from the slots purchases will got to DAO's Treasury and be used for:

  • Curation fees for the Curators Committee
  • Cover storage costs for the 3D models

There are a few things to consider before setting the slots price and commissions:

  • Price will be paid in MANA, but it will be pegged to the US Dollar.
  • Collections that were designed in a procedural way (this means that each 3D representation is created by using an algorithm like Bored Apes, Cannabis Club, etc) are not going to be curated individually. For example: if the collection has 10k Bored Apes, and they were created in a procedural way, curators will only review a portion of the Collection and review the process used to create it. If it is compliant, the whole collection will be approved. Curators will receive commissions for the portion of the collection reviewed.
  • If the collection was not created in a procedural way, every item has to be curated individually.

This feature, Third Party Wearables, implies a new way to get closer to interoperability. Many strong communities with valuable NFTs would be able to let their members enjoy them inside Decentraland.

Voting options

  1. Slot Price: USD 300 / Commission for Curators: USD 50
  2. Slot Price: USD 400 / Commission for Curators: USD 50
  3. Slot Price: USD 500 / Commission for Curators: USD 50 (similar to new fee structure for regular wearables)
  4. Slot Price: USD 600 / Commission for Curators: USD 50
  5. Slot Price: USD 700 / Commission for Curators: USD 50

Examples

  • Option 1 wins BAYC collection has 10k NFTs and they want to upload 20 cool BAYC sneakers, they will need to buy 20 slots.
    • Total cost: USD 6,000
    • Curators will receive USD 1,000
  • Option 3 wins BAYC collection has 10k NFTs and they want to upload 20 cool BAYC sneakers, they will need to buy 20 slots.
    • Total cost: USD 10,000
    • Curators will receive USD 1,000
  • Option 3 wins - Procedural Collection BAYC collection has 10k NFTs and they want to upload 1,000 cool BAYC sneakers that were created in a procedural way, they will need to buy 1,000 slots.
    • Total cost: USD 500,000
    • Curators will receive USD 2,500 assuming a portion of 50 out of 1,000 wearables were curated and the procedural process is validated by the curator
  • Option 5 wins Cryptomotors collection has 15 NFTs and they want to upload 15 wearables, they will need to buy 15 slots.
    • Total cost: USD 10,500
    • Curators will receive USD 750
